Kham خـــــــام is an Arabic word meaning « raw »—a primary material or resource; an untouched, unaltered state that preserves itself in its purest form. With this in mind, the studio grounds its approach in the attentive contemplation of what constitutes the very essence of place in order to create with it. Our practices as architects, researchers, and overall creatives come together to bring the necessary introspection to understand and imagine thoughtful, resonant spaces.
While we believe that each place has its inherent beauty, we draw much of our inspiration from the Mediterranean region and the African continent — lands rich in cultural, social, and environmental complexities that deeply inform our practice. Yet our views, explorations, and collaborations extend to other equally vibrant landscapes, integrating these influences into our work.
We are a transdisciplinary team passionate about places and their complex, multilayered, and often contested identities. We bring a holistic perspective to action through design, science, and embodied experiences.

Myriame Ali Oualla is a Moroccan-French researcher, architect, creative, and educator based in France.
Her work focuses on understanding spatial subalternities, highlighting migrants’ complex experiences of inhabiting, and using creative and visual methods as tools for scientific inquiry.
Her commitment to social justice has naturally converged with environmental concerns, leading her to explore their interconnections through design-led research.
Recently, her creative and scientific explorations have expanded into an eco-sensitive investigation of the landscapes of the Global South, attentive to both the human and non-human agents that inhabit and activate them.
Parallel to her work at KHAM Studio, she currently leads large-scale research within a living lab on resilient housing at the University of Bordeaux, and teaches as an Associate Lecturer at the École Nationale Supérieure d’Architecture et de Paysage de Bordeaux.
Myriame approaches architectural design as both an act of service and a powerful force of social making—one that calls for a stance at once sensitive and political. She continually experiments with new visual media, uses storytelling as a mode of drawing and representation, and believes in the power of hybrid practices to shape an architecture capable of meeting the complexity of our contemporary realities

Kaïs Bhouri is a Tunisian-French architect DE HMONP and educator based in France.
His work is driven by a deep reflection on heritage in architecture—what we are entrusted with, what we choose to pass on, and how these legacies shape the urban and rural landscapes of tomorrow. He sees architecture not only as a discipline of construction, but as a dialogue between past, present, and future. Guided by this vision, he seeks to cultivate a thoughtful balance between urban, ecological, and social imprints, leaving behind spaces that are both meaningful and enduring.
Having a particular interest in project-based experimentation and a strong attention to architectural and structural detail, he takes part in various competitions, research projects, and full-scale prototyping. Drawn to hands-on work, he enjoys developing projects through collaboration with skilled craftsmen and artisans.
Parallel to his work at KHAM Studio, He is currently collaborating on architectural projects and managing interesting rehabilitation and restoration sites with high heritage value. He also teaches as an Associate Lecturer at the École Nationale Supérieure d’Architecture et de Paysage de Bordeaux.
Kaïs approaches architecture as a collective endeavor, honoring the voices of designers, artisans, and inhabitants alike. His care for each project extends into attentive and sensitive listening, ensuring outcomes that resonate both with human uses and with the intrinsic qualities of the site. True to the ethos of Kham Studio, he seeks the essence of each demand and its material expression, drawn to the raw nobility of matter and the structural honesty that gives a project its timeless integrity.
